Date：10 Nov 2008 CDIC will guarantee the principal value of all deposits,
effective immediately and expiring 31 Dec 2009.

1. As announced by the FSC, Ministry of Finance, and Central Bank of China on 28 Oct 2008, CDIC will guarantee the principal value of all deposits held at member institutions. This guarantee is effective immediately and expires on 31 Dec 2009.

2. All deposits held at HSBC in Taiwan are covered by this CDIC guarantee. The term 'deposit' in this context is as defined in the Deposit Insurance Act.
