It is standard practice for hotel or car rental companies to pre-authorize a blank credit card sales slip when processing a booking, with the credit card holder's consent. This pre-authorization is done to protect the rights and interests of both the credit card holder and the hotel / car rental company. After the service has been delivered, the company can then charge the outstanding amount based on pre-authorized sales slip to cover any unpaid charges. If a credit card holder wishes to dispute these charge, he or she may request bank to review the transaction data and associated receipts.
