1.ATM Transfer/ATM Payment

Payments made through HSBC ATM machines shall not be subject to the daily limit of NT$30,000 on non-designated accounts. Payments or fund transfers can be made around the island via ATMs equipped with the FISC inter-bank fund transfer/payment facility, by using ATM cards with a fund transfer function. To complete a fund transfer for a bill payment, you only need to enter bank code"081" in accordance with the instructions given by the ATM system, as well as your credit card number and amount to be paid. (The handling fee for credit card payment through interbank transfer is NT$ 17 per transaction)

2.Payment at 7-ELEVEN /FamilyMart Convenience Stores

You may also bring your payment slip to any 7-ELEVEN / FamilyMart convenience store around the island to make payment. You have the option to pay either the total outstanding amount or the minimum payment for that month. Please note that, according to the regulations set forth by the Ministry of Finance, the maximum amount for individual credit card payments through convenience stores is NT$20,000. The clearing date will be the third working day after your payment, upon which your credit card account payment records will be updated accordingly.

3.Payment through Direct Debit Authorization

If you have a savings account with any of the following banks or their branches, you may also pay through a"Direct Debit Authorization", whereby an automatic debit of your account will be processed for monthly payments. The banks included are: The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, First Commercial Bank, Taiwan Business Bank, Land Bank of Taiwan, Cathay United Bank, Bank of Taiwan, Chang Hwa Bank, Taiwan Cooperative Bank, The Chinese Bank, Taishin International Bank, Chung Hwa Post Office, Chiao Tung Bank, Taipei Fubon Bank, International Commercial Bank of China, International Bank of Taipei, Hwatai Bank, Shin Kong Commercial Bank, Sunny Bank, Fuhwa Commercial Bank, Cosmos Bank Taiwan, Bowa Bank, Chinfon Bank, Taichung Commercial Bank, King's Town Bank, Bank of Panhsin, Far Eastern International Bank, E.SUN Commercial Bank, Entie Commercial Bank.

To ensure timely and accurate payment, please deposit sufficient funds into the specified account for the direct debit at least one working day prior to the value date of the automatic debiting of the account.

4.Direct Payment at Bank Counters

5.Postal Transfer

You may make payment at all post offices around the island if you have the payment form; If you do not have the payment form, you may also make the payment through a postal transfer, which should be made to postal account No. 18583495 under the name of"The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, Taipei Branch". Please specify your credit card number when making the transfer so as to facilitate accurate crediting to your account.

6.Phone Banking Service of HSBC

If you have a saving account or checking account in HSBC with a valid phone banking password, you may dial HSBC 24-hours Customer Care Center (02) 8072-3000 to pay your bill by payment due date.

7.HSBC Website

If you have a saving account or checking account in HSBC and registered for HSBC on-line banking service, you may pay your credit card bill through our web site, www.hsbc.com.tw by logging in"internet banking" , clicking"personal banking", and then selecting transfer to make payment.

8.Mailing of Current-Dated Check

Please issue a non-negotiable current-dated check in favor of"The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, Taipei Branch", write down your credit card number on the reverse side of the check and send it together with the payment form enclosed with your statement, to: HSBC Credit Card Center, PO. Box 161-590, Taipei. To avoid any delay in crediting the account due to the check clearance period, please ensure that the check reaches us at least five working days prior to the payment due date.

Rules Governing Reduction and Waiver of Annual Fee:

  • Measures for Exemption and Reduction of Annual Fee (excluding Premier Master Card and Business Card)
    The annual fee for VISA Platinum Card, VISA/Master Gold Card and Classic Card will be waived for the first year. The annual fee for Visa Platinum Card, VISA/MasterCard Gold Card and Classic Card will be waived for the first year. Within the first year, for Platinum Card where there are 12 or more transactions or the accumulated amount of the transactions charged to the Platinum Card is NT$ 50,000 or more; for Gold Card/Classic Card where there are 6 or more transactions or the accumulated transactions charged to the Gold Card/Classic Card is NT$ 10,000, the annual fee of the next year shall be waived, the standard of which shall apply for the following years.
  • The policies of HSBC shall apply to the Standard of Annual Fee, Measures for Waiver and Reduction at the time of annual fee generated. In case of any changes, HSBC shall notify the cardholder in writing.
Minimum Payment for Each Billing Period10% of the newly added transaction amount of the current period and 2% of the outstanding amount from the preceding period of the credit card amount (in case the amount is lower than NT$1,000, it shall be NT$1,000), plus such fees payable as the total transaction amount exceeding the credit limit, total amount of outstanding minimum fee payable from the previous periods, default fines, revolving credit interest, and annual fee, handling fees for cash advance transaction, registration of loss and card replacement, and retrieval of cardholder's copy.
Default PenaltiesIf on the expiry day of payment period the minimum fee payable is not paid, HSBC will, in addition to collecting the revolving credit interest, collect the default fines, which shall be paid during the current month and no revolving credit may be used in the payment thereof. The method of calculation of default fines shall be the minimum fee payable minus the revolving credit interest, retrieval fee, various handling fees (including the default fines unpaid for the previous period), balance of the account after payment. The method of calculation is:

Cash Advance InterestThe calculation of cash advance interest shall be from its entry date and be daily calculated on the basis of an annual interest rate 19.929% (daily interest rate 0.0546%), until the full payment is collected by HSBC.
Handling Fee for Cash AdvanceThe payment of domestic or overseas cash advance shall be conducted through the local currency.
Handling fee for cash advance: NT$ 100 + (amount of cash advance × 3.5%).
Revolving Credit InterestThe calculation of revolving credit interest shall be from the date of entry of the account to be calculated into the revolving credit interest, based on an annual interest rate of 11.99%~19.929% (daily interest rate 0.0328%~0.0546%), until the full payment of the said account. HSBC shall assess the credit status of cardholders through computer system and grant the revolving credit interest to cardholders based on the assessment result. HSBC shall periodically adjust the result of computer assessment based on cardholder'scredit status, which shall become effective in the following month during which one of cardholder's accounts becomes overdue. However, if the cardholder's overall financial transaction is abnormal or the cardholder fails to pay the minimum fee payable of the current period prior the payment deadline, HSBC may immediately adjust the revolving credit interest to 19.929% prior the payment deadline of the current period.
Fee for Retrieving the Copies of Signing BillsIf you have any inquiries over a transaction, you may apply for retrieving cardholder's copy. HSBC will charge a handling fee of NT$ 100 for retrieving the record of your domestic or overseas transaction. However, the request for retrieving the cardholder's copies shall be made within 30 days following the payment deadline; otherwise, HSBC will not be responsible for the custody of the cardholder's copy.
Re-issuance of Billing StatementsIf you request the delivery of bank statements of the previous three months, a handling fee of NT$ 100 for each bank statement shall be charged by HSBC.
Handling Fee for Report of Loss and Re-issuance of Card
  • Where your credit card is lost, stolen, robbed, defrauded or possessed by a third party other than the cardholder (“loss/theft”), the cardholder shall notify HSBC through phone call or other means promptly for the handling of loss registration procedures and pay the loss registration fee of NT$ 1,000 regardless of the type of card and issue of new card or not.
  • Where your use of credit card is unavailable due to loss, theft, damage, demagnetization, scratching or other reasons, HSBC may issue new card upon your application.  However, if you apply for re-issuance of card for personal reasons while the credit card still functions well (including but not limited to the request of changing VISA Card into Master Card or the old card face into a new one), HSBC shall collect NT$ 200 handling fee for each new card issued.
Handling Fee for Issuance of Clearance CertificateWhen the use of credit card is terminated, the cardholder may request HSBC to issue a clearance certificate to certify cardholder's payment has been made in full. A handling fee of NT$ 200 shall be charged for such request.
Authorization of Settlement for Overseas Transactions
  • Where a transaction is conducted overseas, the exchange rate of the day on which the local merchant makes the payment to the VISA/Master Card International Organization shall prevail (the entry date on the account). Non-US Dollar currency shall be exchanged into US Dollar and be settled with HSBC pursuant to the rules of VISA/Master Card International Organization, which shall further be converted into NT$ based on the settlement rate of the settlement day designated by VISA/Master Card International Organization and the international exchange rate, plus the handling fees paid by HSBC to credit organizations and for HSBC's operation, which shall be 2.05% for both VISA and Master Card.
  • The cardholder authorizes HSBC to act as the agent for exchange settlement within the territory of ROC and to handle the settlement procedures for overseas transactions, provided that the settlement of foreign currency to be paid by the cardholder exceeds the limit prescribed by law, the exceeding amount shall be paid in foreign currency by the cardholder.
