Things you should know

The program period is from 1 April 2023 – 30 Jane 2023. Cash Point accumulated is up to a maxiumum of 12,000 points per year for HSBC Visa Advance Cashback Cards. (Definition of the "Year" refers to a 12-month period starting from the month of card issuance)

Qualified new spending transactions cash point calculation scheme: Current billing cycle new cash points = current qualified new spending total * current billing cycle cash point rebate percentage. Please refer to the details in the HSBC Advance Cashback Card cash points terms and conditions.

Qualified online shopping transaction cash back is subject to HSBC system record for the determination of online transaction.

Qualified birth "date" cashback is subject to system record in Taiwan time. For cardholder with birthday of 29th, 30th, and 31st, if spending occured in the month without that specific date. The qualified birth "date" will be the last day of the month. Birthday is determined according to qualified ID provided. Qualified cashback included general spending but excluded spending and specified utilities stated in the HSBC Advance Cashback Card cash points terms and conditions and utilities payment.

Qualified monthly spending days for any giving billing cycle is subject to HSBC's system record in Taiwan time. Even counted. For any in-store instalment plans, only the day of transaction will be counted as one qualified spending day, the due day of the future instalment payments will not be counted as qualified spending day.

Payments using Chungwa Telecom's IVR or internet system and business electric bills are excluded from qualified automatic utilities payment.

Please manage your finances carefully and value your credit. Interest on revolving credit and cash advance 5.68% to15.00%. Service Charges for cash advance NT$100 + the amount of cash advance * 3.5%. Base date of interest on revolving credit: September 1 2015.

Participation Eligibility

The primary cardholders of VISA Advance Cashback cards issued by HSBC in Taiwan (hereinafter “Programme Credit Cards”) are eligible to participate in this Programme. Cash points accumulated by supplementary cardholders will be automatically combined with cash points of the primary cardholder.

Cash Point Calculation

Current Billing Cycle New Cash Points= Current Qualified New Spending Total * Current Billing Cycle Cash Point Rebate Percentage. All cash points rounding up to full numbers. Cash Point Rebate Percentage shall not be combined and calculated.

Limitation of Cash Points

Cash Point accumulated is up to a maximum of 12,000 points per year for HSBC VISA Advance Cashback Cards. (Definition of the "Year" refers to a 12-month period starting from the month of card issuance) Cash Points of the Primary and Supplementary cards are accumulated together. If the accumulated Cash Points are more than 12,001 in any given year, the rest of the spending afterward in the same year for both Primary and Supplementary cards will not be titled to the cash points reward.

Cash Point rebate percentage

2-1) Every Qualified New Spending(note1) enjoys 0.5% cashback.

2-2) In any given billing cycle, if qualified spending days(note2) are equal or greater than 5 days, or at least one successful automatic utilities payment(excluding payments using Chunghwa Telecom’s IVR or internet system and business electric bills)(note 3) and qualified spending days are equal or greater than 4 days; cashback percentage increases to a total of 0.8%.

2-3) On cardholder’s birth “Date”(note4) each month, cardholder enjoys a special 1.22% cashback (including the original 0.5% or 0.8% cashback) on all qualified new spending.

2-4) All qualified online shopping transactions enjoy 1.22% cashback(note5) (including the original 0.5% or 0.8% or 1.22% birth date cashback). 

Note1: New Spending Transaction is subject to Qualified New Spending (Refer to section 5 for Qualified Spending definition).

Note2: Qualified monthly spending days for any given billing cycle is subject to HSBC’s system record in Taiwan Time. Even two or more separate spending transactions occurred within one single day, only one single qualified spending day will be counted. For any in-store installment plans, only the day of transaction will be counted as one qualified spending day, the due day of the future installment payments will not be counted as qualified spending day.

Note3: Taiwan Utilities’ Business Electric Bills will be excluded from qualified automatic utilities payment and qualified cash points calculation. 

Note4: Qualified birth “Date” cashback is subject to system record in Taiwan Time. For Cardholder with birthday of 29th, 30th and 31st, if spending occurred in the month without that specific date. The qualified birth “Date” will be the last day of the month. Birthday is determined according to qualified ID provided. Qualified Birth “Date” cashback includes general spending and in-store installment plans but excludes spending and specified utilities stated in the HSBC Advance Cashback Card Cash Points terms and conditions and utilities payment.

Definition of Qualified New Spending

5-1) All new transactions in each billing cycle are eligible of cash points rebate except for the following:

(1) Annual fees, replacement fees. 

(2) Revolving interests, cash advance, cash advance fees and interest, all types of personal loans and balance transfer’s fees and interests. 

(3) Fees from delayed payments and late fees. 

(4) Other credit card related fees. 

(5) Purchase of mutual funds, all taxes(all tax payment charged by regulators, including but not limited to house tax, land value tax, license tax, fuel use tax, etc. ), tuition fees, payments using Chunghwa Telecom’s IVR or internet system, high tension and commercial electric bills and traffic fines. 

(6) Traveler’s checks, casino chips, return merchandise and transactions, unauthorized transactions and other related spending 

(7) Cancel, return, stop payment due to dispute and other unauthorized transaction such as forged and stolen cards. 

(8) All utility payment. 

(9) Spend via instalment plan at specific merchants.

(10) Other uncovered items please refer to Welcome Pack (Chinese only).

5-2) All cash points calculation is based on actual and system records in Taiwan time, if merchant’s posting date is not within current billing cycle, that particular transaction is counted as qualified transaction for the next billing cycle.

5-3) For any in-store installment plans, the monthly payment amount will be included in each Billing Cycle’s Qualified New Spending Amount.

5-4) For any returned transaction, bill dispute, or use credit card for tax return and all reasons for returned payments. HSBC is entitled to adjust the cash points in the statements.

Cash Points Accumulation and Suspension 

6-1) If for any reason a cardholder decides to cancel or terminate the card, he or she will be no longer eligible to participate in this Program and all remaining cash points will also be cancelled automatically.

6-2) When a cardholder violates the HSBC credit card agreement or any of these procedures, all remaining cash points will be cancelled immediately without further notice. HSBC also reserves the right to cancel all cash points accumulated in the cardholder’s account at any time.

Redemption of Cash Points

7-1) Every cash point can be used to deduct 1 New Taiwan Dollar of the cardholder’s transaction.

7-2) “Automatic Redemption” is the only redemption method for eligible cardholders for cash point programs.

7-3) “Automatic Redemption” is cash points accumulated from previous billing cycle that are automatically used to deduct current billing cycle’s total billing amount. Cardholder is not required to apply for redemption each time, any unused cash points will be carried over to the next billing cycle.

7-4) Under any of the following situations, a card holder will not be able to redeem cash points:

(1) Suspension or termination of Programme Credit Card held by the primary cardholder,

(2) Violation of the HSBC credit card agreement or these procedures;

(3) Failure to pay the minimum payment of the most recent statement or other agreed items payable before the deadline.

Primary cardholders subject to any of the above conditions will lose eligibility to participate in this Programme. Cash points accumulated by such cardholders and their supplementary cardholders shall also be cancelled immediately and HSBC reserves the right to refuse the redemption request. Where the primary cardholder subject to (3) of the above settles all payable amounts (including penalties, collection costs and other related expenses etc), he/she may continue to participate in this Programme with the consent of HSBC. Under certain conditions, HSBC may recover the cash points accumulated before such event and/or cash points accumulated during the period of non-eligibility by the primary and supplementary cardholders.

7-5) A cardholder is prohibited from transferring cash points to other individuals and cash points can only be used to deduct against the billing amount of the applicable card.Cardholders have no right to request HSBC to covert the unused cash points to money by paying cash, issuing check or wire transfer to the cardholder or other individuals.

General Terms and Conditions

8-1) Cash points accumulated from the Programme are subjected to taxation under tax laws.

8-2) The programme is provided free of charge and unless the laws provide otherwise, HSBC reserves the right to suspend, terminate or modify part or all of the Programme or these procedures (including but not limited to cash points rebate percentage, cash points accumulation period, redemption qualification and methods) at any time. If any suspension, termination, or modification of the Programme or these procedures, HSBC will notify cardholders via website announcement or communication letter send to cardholder’s latest statement address.

8-3) Matters not specified in this Programme shall be conducted in accordance with HSBC's credit card agreement and applicable laws.

8-4) Unless the laws provide otherwise, HSBC reserves the right to amend, suspend or terminate this Programme at any time.

 

NOTE: In case of discrepancies between the English and Chinese version, the Chinese version shall be applied and prevail.
