The Digital Secure Key on HSBC Taiwan App can replace your physical Security Device, allowing you to generate security codes to log on to online banking or verify transactions more quickly and securely. It’s now even more convenient to use Mobile Banking app to access Online Banking.

Please update or download the latest version of HSBC Taiwan app to activate Digital Secure Key. For security reason, currently we don’t support any device that has been jailbroken or rooted. If you just get a new phone, please de-link the app on old device first, and set up mobile banking on new device.

Activate Digital Secure Key on HSBC Taiwan App

You’ll first need to update or download the latest version of HSBC Taiwan App. After you’ve set up Digital Secure Key on mobile banking app, your physical Security Device will be deactivated immediately and you’ll no longer need it. You can generate security codes with HSBC Taiwan App easier, faster and more secure.

Step 1: Log on HSBC Taiwan App.

Step 2: Read the feature description and select ‘Confirm and continue’.

Step 3: Log off or close the App.

Step 4: Open HSBC Taiwan App (but don't log on). You’ll find ‘Generate a code’ from the bottom of the screen.

Step 1: Open HSBC Taiwan App and enter your username.

Step 2: Follow the instructions to verify yourself.

Step 3: Read the feature description and select ‘Confirm and continue’.

Step4: Create a new 6-digit App PIN to set up Mobile Banking.

Step 5: You’ll find ‘Generate a code’ from the bottom of the logon screen.

Use Mobile Banking app to generate online banking security codes

You’ll first need to activate Digital Secure Key on HSBC Taiwan App and make sure your device time is set automatically to generate online banking security codes.

Step 1: Open HSBC Taiwan App (but don't log on). Select ‘Generate a code’ from the bottom of the screen.

Step 2: Select the option that you'd like to perform on HSBC Online Banking:

Log on to online banking
Verify transactions
Re-authenticate code

Step 3: Use your Touch/Face ID or enter your App PIN to pass identity authentication.

Step4: Your security code will be displayed. Enter it where requested on HSBC Online Banking.

* Supported devices for biometric authentication are as follows:

Touch ID is available on Apple iPhone and iPad or later running on iOS 14 or above. Fingerprint ID is supported on most Android devices with OS version Android 8 or above. To enable Fingerprint ID on Samsung Galaxy S10 or Note 10 devices, please ensure the version of the biometrics security patch on the device is 2.0.24.20 or above.
Face ID is available on Apple iPhone X or later, and iPad Pro running on iOS 14 or above. Currently, Face ID is not supported on Android devices for security reasons.

After your Digital Secure Key has been activated, your physical Security Device will be deactivated immediately. You can return this to any of HSBC Taiwan branches or dispose it yourself. Our Mobile Banking app can provide your security codes on the move for online banking log on or transaction verification.

For security reasons, you can only have one type of authentication to choose either Digital Secure Key or a Security Device to generate the security codes needed at a time.

Digital Secure Key is completely secure and packed with bank-grade security and protection features. Once you’ve activated Digital Secure Key on your chosen devices, it will be linked to your personal accounts. Other users cannot use Mobile Banking Digital Secure Key on their devices to log on your Online Banking. To generate online banking security codes, you’ll be required to verify yourself each time by either entering App PIN or using biometric authentication.

Only 1 personal device can be linked to your accounts to enable Digital Secure Key. If you get a new phone, please de-link HSBC Taiwan app on old device first and then set up the app on your new device by using your username, user password and SMS OTP. If you have not created user password, please log on to online banking to set up first.

If you have set up HSBC Taiwan App on another devices, please follow the instructions to de-link your lost device from your profile.

Log on to HSBC Taiwan app on another devices.
Tap on Profile button at the top right of homepage, select ‘ Security’ and select ‘ Manage devices’.
Find the lost device in the list and select Remove device.

If you don’t register Mobile Banking on another devices, please call us to report the lost device so we can de-link your device from your profile.

If you get a new phone, please follow the below.

1.Log on to HSBC Taiwan app on old device.

2.Tap on Profile button at the top right of homepage, select ‘ Security’ and select ‘ Manage devices’.

3.Find the old device in the list and select Remove device.

4.Download the latest version of HSBC Taiwan app on new device and open the app to set up mobile banking.
